SLEEP NO MORE

This January I had the amazing pleasure of traveling with my friends to NYC, the city of dreams, well at least my dreams!
You know when they say that the right company can transform anything, they are absolutely right, for when you get to go with a group of people that are so open to life and every opportunity that presents itself, you get to enjoy every single moment, surprising yourself by leaping into new experiences.
The whole journey was an adventure, but today I want to share with you just one part of it, an enterprise that is called SLEEP NO MORE.

An off Broadway show located in Chelsea, at the McKittrick hotel, a place created by the theatre company Punchdrunk  with the sole purpose of transporting all who enter into a parallel universe, where you can lose yourself, your troubles, even your loved ones, to travel alone  in an experience of the soul. Purely by contemporary and interpretative dance the actors express feelings from joy to hate, basing themselves on Shakespeare's Macbeth, honestly I can confess to you, you will not understand one bit of the plot line, the one mistake I consider this play has, for some can be so lost and determined to find the story behind it that they will oversee other things that are worthier, so if you want to watch a great story and dialogues I tell you now that you will find yourself disappointed. On the contrary the art work of the sets, the costumes and the ambiance is absolute perfection, it is so well done that it is easy to lose yourself in it, truly living in a mixture of Shakespeare, Hitchcock and the exciting 1920´s.
When they first give you that white mask and order you to not take it off or talk and without further due drop you in an elevator, you have two choices, either roam the halls, the rooms, the cemetery or the mad house (yep yep there is a cemetery and a madhouse!), or you can choose the actor/actress of your choice and follow him/her to discover what will develop in the character´s life, both are fun and mysterious, you will feel like a voyeuristic, an spectator in someone else´s private moments while at the same time you will become a part of their life. I assure you, you will not find any other place where you get to touch, smell, eat everything around you, and for certain there is absolutely no other place in this world where you will have personal contact with the actors, while you run all over the place following them or if you are lucky while they lock you in a dark room ;).

I can not tell you more, for I can only tell you my own experience, but I can recommend this show as one of the greatest experiences and adventures I´ve ever had in my life, so good luck and my best wishes in your own Sleep no more journey, don´t forget to wear comfortable shoes and  prepare yourself to see some nakedness!

Zipadedoodah everybody and have fun!!

Oh yeah and PS: if you are a fan of Gossip Girl, remember that episode with Chuck and Blair and the sexy masks, well it is definitely at Sleep no more!!
